AUDIOLOGICAL EVALUATION

Our hospital is proud to offer a complete Audiological Evaluation service that includes Pure Tone Audiometry, Impedance Audiometry, and Speech Audiometry. These vital diagnostic tools are essential in determining and managing hearing-related issues, making them a core part of our commitment to patient care and helping individuals of all ages improve their quality of life through better hearing.

Pure Tone Audiometry

Pure Tone Audiometry is a fundamental\ initial hearing test that measures an individual’s ability to hear different pitches or frequencies. It is a painless and non-invasive procedure(no instruments into the body are inserted) , usually performed in a quiet, soundproof booth. During the test, you will wear headphones and respond to a series of beeps or tones at varying frequencies. Your responses help our audiologists determine the softest sounds you can hear at different frequencies, known as your hearing thresholds.

Impedance Audiometry

pedance Audiometry is a specialized test that assesses the functioning of the middle ear. This test is particularly useful in detecting conditions like otitis media, Eustachian tube dysfunction, and other middle ear disorders. It involves the placement of a soft probe in the ear canal, which measures how the eardrum responds to changes in air pressure.

By measuring the impedance of the middle ear, our audiologists can identify problems like fluid buildup, hole in  eardrums, or issues with the Eustachian tube. This information guides treatment decisions, and in some cases, may lead to the recommendation of surgical

Speech Audiometry

Speech Audiometry is designed to evaluate how well an individual can understand and repeat spoken words. It helps determine the patient’s ability to communicate effectively in everyday situations. During the test, our audiologists will present a list of words at different volumes, and you will be asked to repeat them.

This test assesses your speech discrimination abilities, providing insights into the clarity of your hearing. It is particularly helpful in distinguishing between sensorineural and conductive hearing losses, as well as in evaluating the benefit of hearing aids in improving speech understanding.

Our audiologists are highly trained professionals who will guide you through the entire audiological evaluation process. They will explain the tests in simple terms and ensure your comfort and understanding at every step.

The results of these evaluations allow our healthcare team to modify treatment plans that suit your unique hearing needs. Whether it’s a simple earwax removal, hearing aid fitting, or referral for surgical consultation, we will provide the most appropriate care.
